SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine) consists of two forms: (S,S) SAMe and (R,S) SAMe. The biologically active form is the (S,S) structure, while the (R,S) structure is biologically inactive. Bestvite’s SAMe is sourced from Italy and contains more than 75% (S,S) SAMe, the highest active level available. SAMe is a nutrient that carries and donates methyl molecules necessary to facilitate the manufacture of DNA and brain neurotransmitters and boosts heptatic levels of a critical antioxidant glutamine. It is formed in the body by an enzymatic reaction between adenosine-triphosphate (ADP) and methionine. SAMe works closely with folic acid and vitamin B-12 and functions as a methyl donor for the manufacturing of DNA, brain neurotransmitters as well as phosphatylcholine and L-cystein both necessary for maintaining liver health.
